Vignoble Art Mas, a choice of Cannes Film Festival, returned for its annual film partnership in 2019.
Xavier Combe of Vignoble ART MAS prefers to taste his wines sitting down on a couch rather than in tasting room. Perhaps one of the most talented, up and coming wine makers in the Rhone Valley this man is a true artisan.
His vineyard is located in the municipality of Visan in the Côtes-du-Rhône appellation Villages Visan in the Vaucluse. Near the AOP Vacqueyras and Gigondas, the municipality of Visan, in the Enclave of the Popes, was recognized for the quality of its wines and raised to the rank of village. Combe’s search for perfection means all grapes are harvested by hand in an area where mechanization is standard.
The Vignoble ART MAS cultivates Grenache and Syrah in organic farming tending towards biodynamics. Vines aged fifty to one hundred years produce grapes of great aromatic richness. The yields of the ART MAS Vineyard are deliberately kept low to allow the terroir to express itself at its peak and to increase the concentration of aromas. With the elimination of chemicals, the vineyard is cultivated respecting the ecosystem. The ART MAS Vineyard also uses tools adapted to each parcel topographic feature.
Outrage 2018 (Wine Enthusiast – 89 points)
The 100% Bourboulenc 2018 Outrage (Ooo-traj) is a hidden treasure! It is a subtle, lively wine with notes of toasted almond and small white flowers. Its minerality wakes up the palate and touches the exotic fruits. Its vinification and aging in half a half during 9 months, gives it a roundness that balances its tension and takes you to unknown country! It is an excellent pairing for any shellfish.
Parure 2017 (Wine Enthusiast – 90 points)
Parure is the jewel of the Domaine. This vintage is a combination of refinement, elegance, complexity and finesse and scoring a 90/100 at the Médaille d’Or Dans Le Guide Gilbert & Gaillard. Like precious stones, the tannins are polished, brushed and minutely carved to form a masterpiece of fine wine making. The result is a beautiful collector’s item that a bewitching beauty queen would wear. The aromas intermingle and reveal sometimes notes of red fruits, sometimes black fruits. Spices, blond tobacco, peppery notes and liquorice mingle. The taste buds are in turmoil, Parure offers a carnal experience.
On the nose, this wine offers aromas of garrigue, undergrowth, spices and jammy fruit. This delicious contrasting mix is striking; it is a true fusion between finesse and complexity. On the palate, it is an aromatic explosion that characterizes Parure. The tannins polished by a stay in French oak barrels are coated with a beautiful creaminess.
Parure goes with a wide variety of dishes. This chameleon of a wine is an accompaniment to grilled beef during mild summer evenings, or matched with wild game marinated during winter meals by the fireside. Parure is a harmonious achievement of what nature has to offer!
